This drive to get everyone to take on a healthy lifestyle is a bit confusing. Just what is healthy? How do you know when you've got there? And who is that healthy person we should all aspire to? If we listen to everything that we're being told, healthy means cutting out everything that we like, never drinking alcohol, exercising for hours and - in short - radically changing our lives. For most of us, healthy is just a bit too hard.

That's why we're talking about getting healthier. Healthier has something for us all, is something real, and can be achieved and enjoyed.

Healthier is the second book in the Can Cook series. Our first, can cook! will cook!, was a great success, prompted by our passion to introduce exciting recipes and cooking into people's homes. Healthier is about building on that success and taking our passion further.

This time around, we dip into the real and sometimes dark world of takeaways and provide the proof that regularly eating takeaway food leads you down a really unhealthy path. Then we introduce you to some tricks of the trade from the worlds of nutrition and exercise.

It's not about preaching, it's about providing you with the information to make choices about you and your health. In the middle section of the book we want to steer you towards cooking at home. You'll find over 50 mouth-watering recipes in healthier, because we love to cook and we want everyone to feel the same way.

Meal-times are the most important part of the day for us, and we want to get you into the kitchen, cooking and then sitting down with your family and friends to enjoy the food and the time together. Most of the recipes reflect the summer months: light, crisp and full of colour. Others are variations on those takeaway favourites, proving that, without much effort, you can have all the taste at a lower cost, and much healthier too. Enjoy them.
